Carnival costumes of the animal kingdom are popular at any children's holiday: wolves, bunnies, butterflies, foxes, squirrels.
Each of them in the store is expensive, as it incurs high costs of fabric and craftsmanship. Therefore, in times of crisis for the country, mothers began to sew holiday dresses for children with their own hands. It is cheaper and more enjoyable. In addition, the costume can later be sold.
Today's master class is dedicated to a squirrel costume for a girl.
Materials and tools: 140 cm wide fabric (fleece 60 cm long in orange, fleece 50 cm long in beige, satin material 60 cm in gold color, faux fur 50 cm reddish), synthetic filler for the tail 1 m long, lace from knitwear with sequins ( as in the pictures) 4 m, headband, concealed zipper in tone and length 20 cm, elastic band 60 cm long and 2 cm wide, scissors, dressmaker meter, chalk, tracing paper for a pattern, thread matching, needle, sewing machine, iron .
The size of the proposed pattern is 110 - 118. The length of the product on the back is 46 cm, and the panties on the side are 38 cm.
Stage 1
Work begins with the manufacture of a blouse. The proposed pattern is printed on the printer.
The front of the costume will consist of three parts. You will need to cut 2 elements from the orange fleece. From the beige fabric for the breast, 1 element will be prepared. He will be with a fold.
The back of the suit will also consist of three pieces of orange-colored fabric. It will take 2 identical parts.
Stage 2
A strip 10 cm wide is cut out of satin fabric. Its length is 75 cm. The strip is intended for edging the neck of a squirrel costume for a girl with her own hands. The specified length and width allowances are included.
Stage 3
Finished patterns are laid out on the fabric and encircled with chalk. Allowances are made. For seams along the slices, it is enough to take 1.5 cm, and for bending the sleeves and hem - 2.5 cm.
Stage 4
The sewing machine processes the side seams. Overlock stitching is used for them. For lack of such in the functions of the sewing mechanism, a "zig-zag stitch" is used. Similar actions are performed to grind sleeves.
Stage 5
The bottom of the blouse is bent. At the sleeves, too. The fold can be sewn with a straight line.
Stage 6
An average seam is scribbled on the back, but not completely to stitch a hidden zipper. It is enough to leave 18 cm from the neck down.
Stage 7
A hidden zipper is sewn into the back part.
Stage 8
Details of the front are combined into one. Towards the edges, the resulting seams are ironed.
Stage 9
Sutures are made on the shoulders. They are already ironing towards the back.
Stage 10
Sleeves are sewn into the product.
Stage 11
Now you can sew side seams on the blouse and sleeves. Bending is done twice on the sleeves. The first time - by 1 cm, and the second - by 3 cm. Attention, a straight line is laid on the wrong side of the product, and then ironed.
Stage 12
The tape is taken. 2 strips 21 cm long are required. They are stretched and bent on the front side in the area of the hem of each sleeve directly to the upper seam.
Stage 13
A line with the maximum pitch is laid along the edge of the neck. Then the seam is pulled together and the assembly is obtained. The finished satin strip is sewn from the wrong side, then it is wrapped, about 1 cm, and bounded onto the face of the product. Recall that the side sections of the satin strip are not cut off, but are turned 1 cm inward. The finished edging is ironed.
Stage 14
A band with sparkles is taken, about 50 cm long. It is swept onto the suit directly to the seam of the sewing around the neck, and then it is sewn. Similar actions are performed on the seam at the bottom of the blouse, where the fabric was bent.
Stage 15
At the end of the work on the blouse of a squirrel costume for a girl with her own hands, all the sticking threads from the wrong side are tied or let into the seams to prevent them from opening during wearing or after washing.
Stage 16
At this stage, work begins on the creation of a ponytail. A full-sized paper pattern is being prepared.
Pattern number 5 consists of three textile parts. It is required in the amount of two pieces. Pattern No. 6 is performed with a fold in the amount of 1 unit. Independently add allowances for cuts of 2 cm.
Stage 17
Textiles are cut out from patterns. On a pattern No. 5 side seams are scribbled. The remaining part is tucked into part No. 6. Attention, it should turn out longer than all elements of No. 5.
Stage 18
Synthetic filler manually disassembled into pieces. The resulting cotton wool is stuffed inside the tail of a squirrel costume for a girl with her own hands.
Stage 19
The free edge of the 6th element is bent by the 5th element. Everything is stitched manually. The resulting tail is sewn with a needle and thread from the hand to the back. At the same time, it is taken into account that 14 cm is required to deviate from the lower edge.
If the resulting tail seems too massive, you can sew the straps, like regular backpacks, to the armhole.
Stage 20
We make ears. The pattern for them is located on sheet No. 4 next to the sleeve pattern. The ears are made of beige fabric, and the tassels themselves are made of faux fur. Part allowance is not required.
Stage 21
Details are cut from the patterns. Elements 9 and 9a are joined together on a sewing machine. After that, the elements of the brushes are folded into a cone and sewn manually by the costume of the squirrel for the girl. Their bottom wide section is added. The part is threaded through element No. 9 from the narrow side and sewn by hand.
Stage 22
The resulting ears are turned on the face of the product. They are filled with synthetic material for volume. 4 cm is left for the bottom.
Stage 23
A decorative braid with sparkles is taken and applied to the front side. It is sewn to the bottom edge with an indent of 4 cm. The stitching can be done on a sewing machine. The lower open edge is bent. It is enough to bend 1 cm and sweep. Then the lower cut is bent around for a hoop and manually sewn. This is done from the inside out on a hidden seam with the stitching of decorative braid with sparkles.
Stage 24
Pantaloons costume squirrels for girls with their own hands can be done without a pattern. They are made of rectangles. Side seams are processed. Elastic bands are inserted into the belt and bottom. The item is decorated with braid with sparkles.
