Catman - a perennial plant of the labiate family, resembling mint. The stems of the herbaceous perennial reach a height of 100 cm. The leaves are opposite, lowered, oblong. The flowers are white or bluish-purple, collected in dense spike-shaped inflorescences. The flowering period is from June to September, when the plant attracts attention with a peculiar smell. Kotovnik is moisture- and photophilous, prefers structural, clean soils. He feels comfortable in glades, forest slopes, and also along roads. It has a peculiar, slightly bitter taste that attracts cats.
Kotovnik - types and places of growth
The plant has about 250 species: Kokand, feline, veined, Nez, semi-sedentary, Siberian large-flowered catnip, schizonepet, catnip mussini, etc.
It grows in the forest-steppe and steppe zone of the European part of Russia, in Central Asia, Western Siberia, the Caucasus, Western Europe and the Far East. On the territory of the Russian Federation there are more than 85 species. Individual copies can be found in Japan, North America and South Africa. Cultivate it in the USA and Asia Minor. In Moldova, catnip was introduced as an aromatic plant used in cooking.
Kotovnik - healing properties
Catnip grass has bactericidal properties, external use has an excellent effect on pustular skin diseases. When taken orally, it is characterized by antispasmodic, antipyretic, analgesic, hemostatic, soothing, antidepressant action.

For insomnia, the following recipe is effective: catnip, valerian root, chamomile flowers, hops (in equal proportions) are mixed. 3 tablespoons of the collection pour 2 cups of water, boil for 5 minutes, filter. Take half a glass after a meal. The course is 3 weeks.
