Honey and mustard is a universal marinade for any meat, but it is especially well combined with poultry. The chicken turns out to be very fragrant, tender, covered with a golden crust and involuntarily causes appetite.

Chicken in honey mustard sauce - general principles of preparation

• Hen. You can cook the whole carcass or use pieces with skin (wings, hips, legs), but sometimes fillet is baked in this marinade. It also turns out very tasty. In any case, the bird needs to be washed well, if there is damage or feathers, all this is removed. Before pickling or just pouring, it is better to dry the slices with napkins.

• Mustard. You can take homemade or purchased sauce. In the first version, mustard is usually very spicy, it may need less than indicated in the recipe. You can also use gravy sauce, i.e. Dijon mustard.

• Honey. For baking poultry, only natural honey is used. Molasses, syrups or sugar will not work. It is important to melt the honey so that it is evenly distributed in the sauce, it penetrates better into the pieces of the bird.

• Additional ingredients. Often garlic, soy sauce, ketchup or adjika, all kinds of seasonings are added to the marinade. You can take a ready-made dry mixture intended for poultry or just taste good.

• Cooking. You can bake the bird in the oven, this is the most popular option. But also this sauce allows you to cook chicken in a microwave or in a slow cooker. Time will directly depend on the quality of the bird. If the chicken is home or farm, it takes longer to cook. For factory carcasses with poorly developed muscle systems, 30-40 minutes are sometimes enough.

Oven Chicken in Honey Mustard Sauce

The simplest recipe for chicken in honey mustard sauce. Thighs and shins are suitable for this dish. You can take the whole leg, cut into joints.

Ingredients

• kilogram of chicken;

• 25 g of mustard;

• 20g of honey;

• 1 tsp salts;

• 10 ml of oil.

Cooking

1. Prepare the chicken, chop in portions.

2. If the honey is thick, then it must be melted. You can preheat in a microwave or put on a cup of hot water.

3. Combine salt with honey and mustard. Grind everything thoroughly.

4. Pour the marinade to the chicken, stir, grate each piece carefully. Leave for half an hour.

• chicken 1.5 kg;

• 1 tbsp. l honey;

• 2 tbsp. l mustard;

1. Mix all the ingredients of the marinade: mustard, spices, a teaspoon of salt, add melted honey. Rub thoroughly until the salt is completely dissolved and add a spoonful of oil, it is better to use olive.

2. We wash the carcass inside and out. Wipe with napkins to remove water droplets.

3. Rub the bird inside and out with the sauce. If there is time, then leave to pickle, it will be tastier.

4. We shift the bird into the sleeve, tie the ends. With a needle, we make 2-3 punctures from above, steam will come out through these holes.

5. We bake the bird in the oven for an hour at a temperature of 200 degrees.

6. Carefully remove the chicken, cut the sleeve, spread the film to the sides. We take a spoon, pour water on the carcass with the juice that has gathered at the bottom.

7. Return to the oven, bake until golden brown for about 10-15 minutes.

Microwave Mustard Chicken Sauce

This is just a wonderful chicken instant recipe if you don’t have enough time. The whole process will take no more than 20 minutes.

Ingredients

• 800 g pieces of chicken with skin;

• a spoon of mustard;

• a spoon of honey;

• 3-4 tablespoons of soy sauce;

• black pepper, a pinch of salt.

Cooking

1. Cut the chicken in portions over the joints.

2. Mix all the ingredients of the sauce until smooth. Water the bird, stir it with your hands. You can do all this right away in a microwave bowl.

3. Put in the microwave. You can cover with a plastic lid with a hole so as not to splatter anything.

Ingredients

• 1 kg of wings or legs;

• 20 g of honey;

• 20 g of mustard;

• 20 g of ketchup;

• spices, salt;

• 2 onion heads.

Cooking

1. Cut the onion coarsely, mash it with your hands to get the juice out. Divide approximately in half.

2. Mix all the ingredients of the sauce, pepper and salt to taste. If sharp ketchup is used, then we put only salt.

3. Pour the washed wings with sauce, stir well.

4. Spread half the onion in a container. Then the wings and fall asleep on top with the remaining onions. Cover with a tight lid.

5. Leave the wings or drumsticks to marinate for an hour. Every 15 minutes we turn the container upside down and vice versa.

6. Take out the wings, the bow is not needed. It was added only for flavor. We spread in one layer on a baking sheet or in a mold, you can cover it with foil.

7. Bake at 200 degrees until tender.

Chicken in honey-mustard sauce with oranges (fillet)

This recipe uses white meat. It turns out very fragrant and baked to a beautiful crust, which is not characteristic of it.

Ingredients

• 500 g fillet;

• 1 large orange;

• 15 g of mustard;

• 1 tsp honey;

• 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.

Cooking

1. Rinse the orange, peel. Cut 3 circles, squeeze the juice from the rest of the citrus. We cut the circles into small pieces, discard the bones and thick veins.

2. Mix juice with soy sauce, honey and mustard. You can no longer add anything to it.

3. Cut the fillet into slices, as for a barbecue or a little smaller.

4. Pour orange juice with honey and mustard, mix, add the small slices of citrus prepared earlier. Leave for half an hour. It can be cleaned for several hours, but in this case put in the refrigerator.

5. We shift to the form. Pour the marinade and juices that have gathered at the bottom.

6. Bake for 25 minutes in the oven, the temperature for the fillet is 200 degrees.

Chicken in honey-mustard sauce in a pan

Another recipe for delicious chicken in honey mustard sauce, but already in a pan. So that nothing burns, we do everything according to the rules.

Ingredients

• 700 g pieces of chicken;

• 2 tsp mustard;

• 2 tsp honey;

• 1 large carrot;

• 30 ml of oil;

• spices.

Cooking

1. Combine the spices with honey and mustard, grind.

2. Rinse portioned chicken, dry, rub with sauce. Leave to marinate for fifteen minutes.

3. Cut the carrots into 3 mm slices.

The recipe is a very simple, but satisfying and tasty dish. It can even be prepared for the festive table. If young and small potatoes are used, then you can bake whole.

Ingredients

• 700 g of chicken;

• 7 potatoes;

• a spoon of balsamic vinegar;

• a spoon of mustard;

• the same spoon of honey;

• two tablespoons of soy sauce;

• 1 tsp dry herbs (you can take Provence).

Cooking

1. Cut the chicken into regular pieces, as it happens. But you don’t need to grind it, because the potatoes will still be cooked long enough.

2. Mix mustard and honey, add soy sauce and balsamic vinegar to them, which will give an unusual aroma. Immediately add dried herbs. We rub everything thoroughly.

3. Connect the bird with the marinade, mix, stand for thirty minutes.

4. Peel the potatoes, cut the tubers into slices, possible in quarters. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees, grease the form.

6. On top you need to pull a piece of foil.

7. Cook the dish under the foil for 35 minutes. If the chicken is homemade, then the time can be increased by another 10-15 minutes.

Chicken in Honey Mustard Sauce - Useful Tips and Tricks

• Does the chicken have a lot of feathers and pads? They certainly need to be removed. You can first burn the skin over a gas stove or just a lighter. Then pull out with tweezers.

• To prevent the whole breast from becoming dry while baking the bird, the carcass should be placed with its back up. Rubbing the sternum with butter under the skin will also help, but you need to move it very carefully.

• If the bird begins to quickly brown, and has not yet been baked inside, you need to pour it over the juices from the mold and cover with a piece of foil. Let it steam a little.

• The bird was not baked, inside the nesting tree? Do not try to put it in the oven again. The meat will only dry out. It is better to put in a baking bag or in a form, warm for several minutes in a microwave.
